Chris Armstrong is pipe major of one of the best pipe bands in the World, ScottishPower, and winner of many top prizes for solo piping including the Gold Medal at The Northern Meetings in 2003.
This photo was to accompany an interview in Piping Today magazine where he portrayed himself as an "Oscar the Grouch" type of guy, and that is the image both of us wanted to capture in the photo.
This cover photo is quite a change from the traditional image of a Highland piper. It was to accompany a feature about larger-than-life Canadian piper, Glenn Brown.
Glenn is a top Highland piper and a winner of the Highland Society of London’s Gold Medal at The Northern Meeting in 2009. This was an unplanned shot of Glenn while he was chatting during a front cover photo shoot for Piping Today magazine. It turned out to be one of his favourite photos of the shoot.
Colin was the first person to be interviewed by Piping Today magazine for their "Real life of..." series of features which talks about anything apart from piping. Colin has a lifetime of solo piping and pipe band achievements and is a highly respected piper, piping adjudicator and reed-maker.
